Tried It – Amp Mobile Charger Review

Share the ♥︎

I usually try to keep my #triedituesday reviews positive. My goal is to share the very best products I’m finding. However, in this case, I’m sharing a negative review of the Amp Mobile Charger in the hope that I can save you time, money and aggravation.

I first became aware of the Amp Mobile Three-In-One Charger via an Instagram ad. I was immediately intrigued by the fact that it was a wireless charger that claimed to charge three devices simultaneously: phone, earbuds and Apple watch. The sleek design meant that both Paul and I would be able to streamline our nightstands.

After thoroughly checking out the Amp Mobile website I ordered two units on April 4, 2019 with the intention of giving the charger to Paul as an Easter gift on April 22nd. A few days after ordering, I received a message from the company that our order was delayed due to “unprecedented demand.” About a week later I received a shipping notice and was surprised to see that the unit was being shipped from China. (The company’s web site lists their address as Chicago, IL).

Both Amp Mobile Chargers Were Defective

I did not receive the units in time for Easter, and when they finally arrived in early May they were both DEFECTIVE:

  • One of the units has a defective watch charger. The watch appears to be charging when placed on the unit, but it does not charge. We know that the problem is with the Amp Mobile charger and NOT with the watch because the watch charges perfectly with the Apple charger.
  • The second unit causes both the iPhone and the Apple Watch to get excessively hot. After having both electronic devices overheat multiple times, I am afraid to use the charger for fear of ruining my electronics and/or voiding my warranty.

Terrible Customer Service

For the past few weeks, I’ve tried contacting Amp Mobile more than five times. I’ve emailed them repeatedly as well as sending a letter through the comment form on their web site. I have yet to receive a response.

Today I am returning both units to the address on the Amp Mobile web site and requesting a replacement or a refund. I’m also disputing the credit card charge. If I hear back from the company, I will update this post.

Every Tuesday I try a new product and post a (brutally honest) review. This is not an ad. I have received no compensation for this post. Check out all of my other review posts HERE.
