The Benefits of Making Espresso At Home

Share the ♥︎

As a coffee lover (and someone who loves to save money) I enjoy making espresso drinks at home. Not only is it possible to make delicious espresso drinks in the comfort of your kitchen, but there are actually a number of benefits associated with doing so. Here, I’ll share some reasons you should consider making espresso at home.

Cost Savings

One of the most obvious advantages of making your own espresso is the cost savings. Believe it or not, you can purchase a good-quality espresso machine that will pay for itself quickly when you stop buying drinks at a coffee shop. Think about it. Five dollars a day (or more) equates to $1,825 a year. That’ll buy you a top-of-the-line machine as well as premium ingredients.

Ease-of-Use

You don’t have to be a barista or possess any special coffee-making skills to make a great cup of espresso. You simply need to follow a few basic instructions.

I find personal espresso machines relatively easy to use and maintain. With a good quality machine, you can make delicious espresso drinks with minimal effort. Some brands like Miele or Breville are automatic so they grind and tamp the coffee beans for you. But even if you do it manually, it’s a very easy and straightforward process. Most modern machines require only basic maintenance, like wiping down the steam wand and descaling the machine every few months. You can do these things in just a few minutes!

I currently own a Miele but in the past I’ve owned a built-in Bosch, a Breville and Nespresso. Make sure you look out for sales and/or retailer coupons. I bought the Miele from Crate and Barrel using their credit card and ended up getting a big rebate.

Quality Control

Another great benefit of making espresso at home is the complete control you have over the flavor and quality of your drink. You can experiment with different beans and recipes until you find one that suits you. Or, you can mimic your favorite coffee shop by using their beans and the same types of add-ins. I purchase Decaf Espresso beans and sugar-free vanilla syrup from Starbucks so my homemade version tastes identical to their pricey brew. I also make homemade cold brew using Starbucks beans.

The Convenience

Additionally, having an espresso machine in your home means that there’s no need to rush out every morning just to get a coffee fix before work. Instead, I can stumble down the stairs and enjoy a delicious cup of freshly brewed espresso or a creamy latte in minutes. I never have to leave the house!

To sum up, there are many great reasons why I recommend investing in an espresso machine for your home. Not only will one save you money on expensive coffee shop trips, but it will also ensure you can enjoy high-quality drinks anytime you want. So, if you’re looking for a convenient way to enjoy delicious espresso without leaving the house each morning, I highly encourage giving it a try!
