No longer thought of as just a woo-woo practice, the mainstream medical community has embraced meditation. The benefits of a meditation practice include:
- Stress reduction
- Improved concentration
- Increased self awareness
- Improved cardiovascular and immune health
- Increased happiness
- Better sleep
So, how do you get started? There are a number of apps such as Headspace which feature a variety of guided meditations (for sleep, anxiety, performance, etc.) Headspace offers a free trial and if you have an Amazon Alexa device you can enable the free “Headspace skill” and get either a general meditation or a sleep meditation daily.
But even with the help of an app, it takes daily practice to find your groove. In this six-minute video, I’m sharing three practical tips for starting (and maintaining) a meditation practice.
